1000-Lb Sisters star Tammy Slaton reveals hopes of skin removal surgery

Fans have followed along as Tammy Slaton has shed more than 500 pounds, and now the 1000-Lb Sisters star is looking to gain confidence with skin removal surgery.
Tammy has opened up about what she hopes is the next step in her journey during a sneak peek of the show’s upcoming sixth season that was posted exclusively by People.

Tammy, 38, underwent bariatric surgery in 2022. In August she celebrated losing an incredible 226 kilograms, but she has further plans to improve her confidence.
“Amy’s got thinner and she’s comfortable with her own body, but I don’t feel that way because of my excess skin,” Tammy admitted in the season preview.
At a doctor’s appointment, her surgeon explained that removing this would be a long process.
“You’ve got head-to-toe loose skin. It’s going to take several operations and several healing phases,” he explained.
“I’m afraid that I won’t get approved for skin removal,” Tammy said.

It comes just weeks after Tammy celebrated hitting a massive milestone of 500-lb (227kgs) lost in a video on social media.
“I take a lot of pictures, a lot of selfies, and I do not because I think I look good – well, I do, a little bit – but mostly because I want to remember how big I was, what I looked like,” Slaton shared.
“And I reflect, ‘Dude, I was huge.’ I lost 500 pounds, like, I would not be able to sit in this chair.”

She said she felt like she ‘lost herself’ during the process but had come to realise it was “a lifestyle change”. She also had a sweet message for anyone else struggling.
“I had a lot of demons, inner demons, that I had to fight. I’m still fighting. You’re not alone, you can do anything once you put your mind into it, never give up.”
